Hi all,
Today we have a presentation from Bowen and Ethan on the progress of their Bachelor project on creating mineral moon maps for Cubesat missions. Their project is the following:
The main goal is making a mineral moon map using visual data and a relatively simple setup as a preparation for a CubeSat mission. To achieve this goal two main methods of obtaining data are used. One method focusses on combining a spectrograph with an RGB camera setup. The other is using a hyperspectrograph. The aim of the project is to compare the methods, testing there feasibility and gain an idea of what to expect from the results of the CubeSat mission. Besides that, taken data can also be used to further train existing AI programs used for classifying the minerals found within this data, as well as expanding the knowledge within in visual range which is lacking compared to the well observed infrared range.
After the presentation we will continue with the usual slides so send them to haffert@strw.leidenuniv.nlmailto:haffert@strw.leidenuniv.nl and m.darcis@sron.nlmailto:m.darcis@sron.nl.
Cheers, Michiel
